Software engineering
and architecture.
I've been building software since 2009, and today I work freelance. Most of my clients are fast-growing SMEs, lately in hospitality, climate tech and enterprise AI, and I usually work with two of them at a time.
Interim Head of Engineering
I lead your engineering team until you have a permanent lead: planning the team can follow, hiring, and staying hands-on enough to make the technical decisions myself.
Architecture review
For most small teams it takes about a week of work, though it's hard to say before I've seen the code. You get a written report: what I found, what I would change, and in which order.
Technical due diligence
An independent look at the code, the infrastructure and the engineering team, usually before an investment or an acquisition. I've done these for an SAP consultancy and an e-commerce brand.
Zero-to-one build
A new product, built by me from the first sketch to the first paying customers. I've done this three times, once as a founder and twice in head-of-engineering roles, and it's one of the things I enjoy most.
AI and LLMs
I worked on ML products before LLMs were widespread, and on LLM systems since: search, document processing and, lately, agents. I can help you work out where they fit in your product or your workflows. That includes saying when they're the wrong tool.
Ongoing technical advisor
Part-time, as the technical person on your side: reviewing what your engineers or your agency deliver and helping with planning, on a monthly retainer after a short trial. I've also mentored a startup CTO for about two years.
The hard part usually isn't the code. It's deciding what to build, and what is good enough for now.
Tell me what you're working on.
Send me a short email about what you need and we'll find time for a 30-minute call. If I'm not the right person for it, I'll tell you and try to point you to someone who is.
